Day 1: Pick up from Nairobi and transfer to Lake Magadi for bird watching
Your birding adventure begins with a morning pick-up in Nairobi, where your experienced driver-guide will welcome you before departing for Lake Magadi. Located in Kenya’s southern Rift Valley, this shallow alkaline lake is one of the country’s premier birdwatching destinations, celebrated for its impressive diversity of birdlife and dramatic landscapes.
Arriving in the afternoon, you’ll head straight out for your first guided birding excursion. Lake Magadi is well known for attracting large numbers of flamingos, pelicans, and more than 100 recorded bird species. Keep an eye out for remarkable sightings such as the Chestnut-banded Plover, Northern Crombec, Branded Parisoma, White-bellied Canary, Cut-throat Finch, Blue-capped Cordon-bleu, Crimson-rumped Waxbill, Grey Wren-Warbler, Taita Fiscal, Fischer’s Starling, Decken’s Hornbill, and Fischer’s Sparrow-Lark, along with many other resident and seasonal species.

Day 2: Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Naivasha & enjoy bird watching in the afternoon
After breakfast, meet your driver-guide and depart Nairobi for the scenic journey to Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s finest birdwatching destinations. Located about 80 kilometers northwest of the capital, Lake Naivasha is a designated Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and supports more than 450 recorded bird species. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley and the surrounding countryside.
Upon arrival, begin your guided birding excursion around the lake and its acacia woodlands. The area is home to an impressive variety of resident and migratory birds, including the African Fish Eagle, Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus), Maccoa Duck (Oxyura maccoa), African Darter (Anhinga rufa), Great Egret (Casmerodius albus), Saddle-billed Stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis), White-backed Duck (Thalassornis leuconotus), Baillon’s Crake (Porzana pusilla), African Skimmer (Rynchops flavirostris), Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Grey-crested Helmetshrike, Basra Reed Warbler, Lesser Flamingo, Red-knobbed Coot, African Spoonbill, Little Grebe, and many other fascinating species.

Later in the day, transfer to Lake Naivasha Lodge to unwind before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast at your lodge, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s most celebrated birdwatching destinations. Nestled in the Great Rift Valley, the park is internationally recognized for its extraordinary birdlife and has earned a reputation as one of the world’s finest ornithological sites. Its alkaline lake is especially famous for attracting vast flocks of lesser flamingos that gather along the shoreline, creating a remarkable natural spectacle.
Upon arrival, enjoy a guided birding experience through the park, where birdwatching is complemented by excellent wildlife viewing. Day 4: Full Day Birding in Lake Nakuru National Park
Spend another rewarding day discovering the exceptional birdlife of Lake Nakuru National Park. Accompanied by your expert guide, explore different habitats across the park in search of its rich variety of resident and migratory bird species. With plenty of stops along the way, you’ll have excellent opportunities to observe birds in their natural surroundings and capture memorable photographs.
In addition to its outstanding birdwatching, Lake Nakuru is renowned for its abundant wildlife. During your game drive, you may encounter lions, buffaloes, black and white rhinos, and other mammals that call the park home, making the day a perfect combination of birding and wildlife viewing.
In the late afternoon, return to your lodge to relax before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer from Lake Nakuru to Lake Baringo
After breakfast, continue your journey north to the beautiful shores of Lake Baringo, one of Kenya’s premier freshwater lakes and an outstanding destination for birdwatching. Upon arrival, set out on a guided walking birding excursion to explore the lake’s diverse habitats, which support an impressive variety of bird species.
Lake Baringo is renowned for its exceptional avian diversity, offering opportunities to spot species such as the Brimstone Canary, Little Weaver, Goliath Heron, Jackson’s Hornbill, White-faced Scops Owl, and many others. Your guided walk will also take you to the nearby cliffs, where you will search for specialty birds including the Black-throated Barbet and the elusive White-faced Scops Owl, making this a memorable experience for bird enthusiasts.
After your birding excursion, transfer to Lake Baringo Country Club to relax before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Samburu National Reserve

Samburu is renowned for its unique collection of northern Kenya bird species. During your guided excursion, keep watch for the Acacia Tit, Bare-eyed Thrush, Pink-breasted Lark, African Palm Swift, Ashy Cisticola, Black-bellied Sunbird, Red-necked Falcon, Brown-tailed Rock Chat, and many other resident and seasonal birds.
