The 4-Day Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru Safari offers a rewarding journey through two of Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Perfect for travelers with limited time, this safari combines thrilling game drives with breathtaking scenery, giving you the chance to experience the country’s remarkable wildlife and natural beauty.
Your adventure begins in the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, renowned for its rich concentration of wildlife and exceptional predator sightings. Home to healthy populations of lions, leopards, and cheetahs, the reserve provides excellent opportunities to witness these magnificent big cats in their natural habitat, and with a bit of luck, even observe them on the hunt. Masai Mara is also home to elephants and buffaloes, making it one of the best places to encounter four of Africa’s Big Five animals.
The journey continues to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s premier destinations for rhino conservation. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to spot both black and white rhinos, completing your Big Five experience. The park is also well known for its diverse birdlife. Although the number of flamingos has fluctuated over the years, Lake Nakuru remains a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with species such as pelicans, kingfishers, herons, and fish eagles commonly seen around the lake.
Depending on the season, you may also witness the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara, one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife events. This safari is an excellent choice for couples, wildlife photographers, and nature lovers seeking unforgettable encounters with Kenya’s iconic animals.

Full Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Masai Mara (5 hours drive)
After an early breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, meet your professional driver-guide and begin your journey to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and capture memorable photographs. Continue to the reserve, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. Later in the afternoon, head out on your first exciting game drive, where you’ll search for the reserve’s incredible wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and many other fascinating species roaming the vast savannah.
Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve
Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before setting out with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive across the spectacular Masai Mara National Reserve. Spend the day exploring its vast plains in search of the Big Five, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and, with some luck, rhinos, along with countless other wildlife species. If you are travelling during the migration season, you may also witness the incredible Great Wildebeest Migration, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural events. After lunch, experience an unforgettable hot air balloon safari, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Mara’s endless landscapes and abundant wildlife. Later, continue with an afternoon game drive before returning to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
Rise early for an optional morning game drive, a great opportunity to spot predators and other wildlife as the savannah comes to life. Return to your lodge for a hearty breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, enjoy a scenic drive through Kenya’s Great Rift Valley with a stop for lunch. You’ll also pass the picturesque shores of Lake Elementaita and Lake Naivasha. If time permits, you may choose to take an optional boat safari on Lake Naivasha, where you can spot hippos and a variety of birdlife. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in the evening for check-in at your lodge, followed by dinner and an overnight sta
Day 4: Game Drive & Departure
After breakfast, proceed for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. The Lake is among the parks main attractions and is a home to millions of flamingos as well as other bird species. You will also see other wildlife species including Rhinos, impalas, waterbucks among others. Have a lunch break and then exit the park for a transfer back to Nairobi arriving in the evening for a drop off at your Hotel or airport for departure depending on schedule.
